As an interoperability solution, Hashport facilitates the movement of digital assets. Using the API functionality that is now available, developers can now plug Hashport’s interoperability solution directly into dApps.

If you want to learn more about the Hashport API from the beginning, learn more by reading our introductory blog. For more details, you can dive right into docs.hashport.network for the full documentation.

Getting started

A dApp must have the following prerequisites in order to successfully integrate with Hashport:

  • an EVM Wallet Interface (e.g. MetaMask) or a Web3 Provider
  • an HBAR Wallet Interface (e.g. Hashpack) or the Hedera SDK
  • the ability for users to connect their accounts and send transactions through the above interfaces, providers, and/or SDKs

Networks

Hashport currently supports 5 networks — Hedera, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and BNB Chain. Users can move fungible tokens between Hedera, Hedera, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and BNB Chain. On our Hashport API docs, you can send an API request to receive a list of network IDs. Below is a sample response:

[
{
"id": 295,
"name": "Hedera"
},
{
"id": 43114,
"name": "Avalanche"
},
{
"id": 56,
"name": "BNB"
},
{
"id": 1,
"name": "Ethereum"
},
{
"id": 137,
"name": "Polygon"
}
]

At the time of writing, Hashport integrated 32 tokens. These tokens are “ported” across the five supported networks by a process of locking, minting, and burning.

Hashport Utility Endpoints

Hashport offers some Utility Endpoints to ensure that all the necessary information captured by your dApp is set before starting the porting steps.

Similar to how you can fetch network IDs, in the subpage titled “Get all supported assets”, you can send an API request to retrieve a list of asset details which includes token addresses, names, symbols, and asset reserve amounts. The asset details are broken down further by the network source types. Other metadata can also be retrieved to help communicate the information on the dApp.
