hashport has arrived, and with it comes new worlds of possibility for digital assets owners everywhere. As we welcome Web 3.0 and all of its benefits, one crucial step for the DLT industry in reaching its true potential is solving for user choice and interoperability between decentralised networks. hashport will help usher in a new era of collaboration between DLT networks by affording dApp users and developers the freedom to act on new ideas and opportunities. Developers can take advantage of the positive features of other DLT networks to bolster the capabilities of their dApps or even migrate networks altogether. The platform is built upon the core principles of speed, cost-effectiveness, security, user-centric experience, transparency, and accessibility, all of which are imperative to its long term viability.
Meet the Swarm
hashport utilises a robust validator swarm committed to ensuring the integrity of its network. The swarm is composed of industry-leading organisations across a diverse grouping of sectors. The initial validators are: Worldpay from FIS, the HBAR Foundation, Polygon, Animoca Brands, Hex Trust, Maker Growth / Stable Node, LimeChain, Calaxy, and BCW Group. These diversified organisations currently operate within the core & emerging DLT market segments of gaming, strategy consulting, social tokenisation, financial services technology, custodial service solutions, back-end blockchain development, and stablecoins. The diversity and integrity of hashport’s validators will allow the platform to recognise and implement new use-cases quickly, thereby helping it to continually increase utility for users as the space evolves.
How it Works
hashport’s validator swarm harnesses the power of the Hedera Consensus Service (HCS) and Hedera Token Service (HTS), along with an omnibus wallet and smart contract endpoints to lock digital assets on the network of origin and project their representative version onto a foreign network of choice. Ported tokens are 1:1 of the original digital asset. When a user submits a porting request to hashport, the validator node that first recognises it will create a scheduled transaction to be signed by the remaining validators in a supermajority and subsequently processed by the Hedera network. As soon as the submitted transaction is immutably logged on Hedera, hashport will create the projected version of the digital asset on the foreign network endpoint and deposit it into the users’ hashport-compatible wallet.
Worlds of Opportunity
Currently, there are billions of dollars in assets residing on the Hedera network. hashport offers a unique solution that allows users to interact with decentralised applications on foreign networks without relinquishing control of their underlying assets. To this effect, the guiding principle of the platform is to provide users with new worlds of opportunity. In practice, this means adding as many new network connections, use cases, and user bases as possible to hashport. At launch, hashport will connect the Hedera, Ethereum, and Polygon networks. Additional networks will be added starting in Q1 2022.
